So... Four months? My sincere apologies to all (3) of you.
A lot's gone down in that time, let me tell you, getting hired and fired at my 911 agency being of the most concern. Which in and of itself was quite bullshit, I don't mind telling you.
So the way NORCOM works is that you have a ten week classroom-styled academy, which I passed with flying colors. Once that's finished, you move onto approximately 256 hours of on the floor training, one-on-one with someone who's been there forever. Been there, yes. Tactful and effective, not so much.
Everything went just fine until the third phase, which is where you talk and type as your trainer observes your every move and offers criticisms and feedback.
Here comes the trouble... There was a definite disconnect between her teaching style and my learning style. But I decide to just suck it up. But that comes to be a bad decision, as I'm hauled in to the Professional Standards Manager. I plead my case, let them know I think that a new trainer would be helpful.
Bad move.
Turns out the Professional Standards Manager is my trainer's sister in law. She ends up rounding on me for "blaming my problems on my trainer" and refuses my request. She also, at this point, informs me I'm a gossip. I come to find that, while my trainer was doing other duties, I sat with another gal. She asks how it's going. So I answer truthfully, perhaps just a bit harshly.
Turns out this is her roommate since high school.
Yea. So my request is refused, the sister in law tells my trainer, who makes my life a living hell, I run out of hours, and I'm fired.
Not to play the victim, but that's fucked up.
Oh, by the way, I was #7 of 12 to wash out of my training academy... 12 people, each costing upwards of $30,000 to train, and 7 were fired. You do the math.
Bahhhh... So just felt as though I should update you all as to why it's been four months... Haha.
An actual review will be up shortly!
