Very sorry about the delay! So, it's been a very strange few weeks.
A relationship of over a year just ended and I'm stuck in a really quite unpleasant job for the time being. It's very hard to realize you love someone to the ends of the earth yet cannot partake in a completely healthy relationship with them. Love will always be there; it really isn't something that ever completely fades. Unfortunately people grow apart or realize that differences that were once thought to be nothing become insurmountable challenges.
So, instead of wallowing in my unfortunate circumstances, I'm really going to take this opportunity to better myself physically and mentally.
I've started several fairly ambitious projects in my life. Which I'm going to be using this blog to do!
No, my narcissism knows no bounds. Instead of merely the song of the day (the "of-the-day" part really needs some work), I'll be keeping track of how my projects are progressing as well.
Project the First
I will be starting up the P90x workout routine tomorrow, and following it for the full 13 weeks. I won't be doing the muscling up version, however. There is, mercifully, a "Lean" version, aimed at toning and weight loss. At 280 pounds, I want to shy away from bulk. I really don't want to end up topping 300 pounds, no matter the musculature.
Project the Second
At the same time, I'll be keeping a food journal online for myself so I can see where I'm going to need the effort. Thanks to Justine, I have a fairly accurate outline of what I'm supposed to be consuming every day, and the journal will help ensure I stay within my means. I'll also be cutting out eating past 8 p.m.
Project the Third
This is going to be the real challenge. After seeing Inglourious Basterds, I was very taken by the multi-lingual villain. I found it incredibly admirable (even in such a despicable character) that he was able to glide so effortlessly between four different languages.
This is what I'm going to attempt.
Now, Spanish came relatively easy for me. So, over the course of this year, I want to really get my Spanish buffed up, as well as learn French, Portuguese, and German. So, I'll be looking into different methods of learning (basically the different books/programs that are out there), and seeing which one works for me. That will help me get the basics down. I also recently placed orders for some translations of books into those languages so I can see the language used by a native speaker.
And weirdly enough, those books will be Harry Potter books. Laugh all ya like but they're some of the easiest foreign language books to find, and I'm pretty certain the translations will be excellent.
Et la Coupe de Feu (which has already arrived and is boggling my mind), E a Ordem da Fenix, Y El Misterio del Principe, and Von der Gefangene von Azkaban will hopefully help bolster my understanding of how the languages are supposed to work.
Project the Fourth
Try and finally get some music recorded! I've had songs floating around for years but they've never been recorded. So if anyone's really familiar with the drum machines on Logic or Garage Band please let me know!
So if you think I'm barking mad, you're probably right.
See you soon.
